Counseling FAQs

Who can get help from the Counseling Center?
Anyone who needs counseling, regardless of religion, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or economic status.

What services do you offer?
We offer expert counseling for individuals, couples, and families with a wide variety of needs, from problems in school to aging issues.

How do I pay for counseling?
We accept all major insurance carriers, including Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Neighborhood Health, Tri-Care, and United Health, as well as Medicaid and Medicare. We also take all major credit cards. For those without insurance, a sliding fee scale may be available depending on individual circumstances.

How can I schedule an appointment?
You can email us at counseling@jfsri.org, or call 401-331-1244 and request the intake worker or ask to speak directly with one of our specialized clinicians. You can also have your primary care physician, hospital, or agency professional call. All calls are returned within one business day.

When can I be seen?
Most clients are seen within one week of referral. We see clients during daytime or evening hours.

Where are counseling sessions held?
Clients are seen at the JFSRI office, 959 North Main St., Providence, RI. Home visits are available for home-bound clients.
