The Kesher Program

Kesher, which means “connection,” is a synagogue-based social work program. Participating temples have a part-time social worker on-site to help congregants and friends negotiate difficult times and life crises. Kesher social workers also find needed resources, provide information and education, and offer consultation with the rabbi. In addition, Kesher social workers coordinate workshops, programs, and groups that each community identifies as being helpful. All Kesher services are free of charge. The communities that currently participate with Kesher are Congregation Agudas Achim in Attleboro, Temple Torat Yisrael in Cranston, and Temple Habonim in Barrington.
