JFS was established in 1929. We are a local, 501(c)(3) non-profit social service organization. We serve individuals and families in RI and nearby Massachusetts regardless of faith or economic status. For more than 80 years, we have been helping people navigate services so that their lives are happier, safer, and healthier.
Our Mission Statement is to sustain, nurture and strengthen the emotional and general well-being and stability of families and individuals through the life cycle, within the frame work of Jewish tradition and values.

Our staff at Jewish Family Service are highly trained professionals. They include Marriage and Family Therapists, Masters of Social Work (MSW) degrees, additional post-graduate experience, and many are licensed social workers (LICSWs), Registered Nurses (RNs), or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
Moreover, we recognize the crucial importance of staff development. That’s why our staff receives continuous professional educational training and provides field instruction to graduate and undergraduate students. We’re accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
The JFS staff is truly a family. Our clinicians tend to stay with us for years. This stability enhances our ability to better service you. Consistency contributes to the trust that develops between client and staff member.
Our trademark is quick response time. At JFS, your call is answered without delay. If you require an appointment, it will be scheduled promptly and an initial assessment is made within five business days.
We’re known for professionalism and client satisfaction. We solicit feedback and evaluations, and we continue to receive the highest marks in every program.
Privacy and trust are the foundations of our work and we pride ourselves on our respect for the client. All agency/client meetings, whether they are individual, group, or family, are held in the strictest confidence. We follow the ethical standards set forth by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and HIPAA regulations.
Our services are open to the entire community. We are available to serve anyone in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts who needs assistance regardless of faith or economic status.
